Robert Hawkins is the Executive Director for the Near Southwest Preparedness Alliance (NSPA), one of six Healthcare Coalitions in the Commonwealth of Virginia working in collaboration with the Virginia Hospital and Healthcare Association (VHHA) and the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) as part of the Hospital Preparedness Program. NSPA is comprised of member hospitals, long-term care facilities, emergency medical services (EMS), public health departments, local municipal emergency management (EM), home health care and dialysis agencies. This Healthcare Coalition is geographically comprised of 16 counties and 7 independent cities covering approximately 7,000 square miles with a population of 960,000. In this role, he directs the operation of a 24/7 Regional Healthcare Coordination Center designed to communicate and coordinate healthcare organization response activities during a disaster, a Training and Exercise program which provides healthcare related training and exercise opportunities to stakeholder organizations, and a Medically Vulnerable Populations program which address gaps in preparedness among a multitude of non-hospital based healthcare organizations.

 Robert earned a Masters of Management from Liberty University and Bachelors of Science in Philosophy and Religious Studies from Radford University. Prior to his role at NSPA, Robert served as a Local Health Emergency Coordinator for the Virginia Department of Health. He also has a background in Corporate Asset Protection following service in civilian law enforcement and the United States Military.
