TRISH SMITH, BA, BSN, RN

DIRECTOR OF COMMAND CENTER & TELE ICU, APPALACHIAN REGIONAL HEALTHCARE

Trish Smith graduated from Morehead State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in the area of education in 1995. After teaching in public schools for several years, she pursued nursing. Trish graduated from Indiana University, in 2006, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.

It was early in Trish’s nursing career that she recognized a burning desire to be part of leadership within her hospital system. Over the last 13 years she has worked in acute care settings such as: medical/surgical, Emergency Department, Telemetry, Operating Room, and Cardiothoracic /Vascular Surgical ICU. She served as a Critical Care educator and continued her pursuit to leadership working as CVICU/ICU Nurse Manager at ARH’s system flagship hospital. Trish transitioned to a system position leading a patient care and safety team in implementation of the organization’s new electronic medical record: MEDITECH. She is currently the Director of ARH System Command Center and Tele ICU where she has served as a project lead and director for both initiatives. Trish considers herself a change agent who embraces transformation that improves the care patients receive across the 12 ARH hospitals and their respective communities.
